My condolences and prayers to the family of my old teammate and classmates Charlie and Cindy.
A flood of memories wonderful growing up memories.
Charlie was the best athlete Ysleta High School ever graduated. He was All District 2 years in a row in football and basketball but the most interesting was his third sport of track and field.
Charlie’s track and field events were the obvious with All District awards two years in a row in the discus and the shot put but also in the 120 high hurdles. I wish there were video of Charlie last out of the blocks and over the first hurdle and then the freight train started to pull even at the 100 yard to blow by the field at the finish. It was almost as amazing for me to hand Charlie the baton for the 4th leg of the sprint relay and watch him outrun the field.
All of this out of a young man who was 6 foot 4 and weighed 220 pounds outrunning a bunch of skinny kids. I include myself as one of those skinny kids.
The most amazing thing about Charlie was his love for Cindy. The only time it seemed they were not together at school was when Charlie was in a practice or game uniform. They are perfect for each other and I got to see that in the very beginning.
God speed my brother back in your loves arms.
