Although you do not know me I was a classmate of your father, Charles, in Troup schools and I admired him greatly and offer you my sincere sympathy in your time of loss. I also knew your mother when she was a child in Arp as she was a friend to my cousin Becky. My condolences to Charlinda and the rest of the family. You are in my prayers that God will comfort you in your loss. Losing a parent is difficult, but the loss of both in such a short time is even beyond. Take comfort in the fact they knew and loved the Lord. One day we will see them again. Until then, they will be in our hearts.
A word that best suited to describe Charles Davis would be “Gentleman”. As Gregg County Clerk I was privileged to sit next to Commissioner Charles Davis during weekly Commissioner Court meetings for ten years. Always prepared for court, if discussion was warranted, Charles was the epitome of rational civilized debate; never forsaking diplomacy. He was an exemplary public official with service to his constituents and the county forever uppermost in his efforts. When in the courthouse, Charles had a smile for everyone he encountered and never seemed too busy to stop and speak. I addressed him as Commissioner during court proceedings and am exceedingly glad to have also called him friend. ...... Charles, you will be missed......

I remember Charles and Linda from Wesley Methodist Church. Mr. Davis (I could never call him Charles to his face) was Sunday School teacher to a bunch of us during our Jr. & Sr. High years. He was always very patient with us. He would sit at his desk trying to keep us interested in our lesson, unaware that we were watching his "fancy" cowboy boots sticking out from under the desk. He would wiggle his feet & move them about as he stretched out his legs under the desk, much to our delight & entertainment. But I never saw compose his patience as he tried to keep us interested. I will always remember him as a quiet, soft-spoken, Southern Gentleman.

Jim and I still miss sitting in church with you and Linda. Aug 11 last year you two stood with us when we joined WHBC. I have known you since the Southern Auto days. A good man and a loving couple . We will miss you. Happy for you that you are with Linda.
Charles and Linda meant so much to us. He truly missed her so much and Todd! He loves Charlinda and her family so much!
We use to go to gospel singings with them! A lot of years of dear friendship! Enjoyed cooking in our homes for each other!! Truly a fine Christian man!
I remember Charles as a very approachable man in the way that people were drawn to him due to his magnetic personality. One could definitely see the love of Christ through this dedicated public servant and military veteran.
Charles will be missed greatly here, but I know he was welcomed with open arms to his eternal heavenly home.
