Ms. Bettie, Debbie and Frank -

I returned to Longview yesterday to find out the news of Charles' passing and am so very sorry for your loss. My dad asked me to please find the "electronic thing" on my computer and express his sorrow for the loss of a great friend, coworker, boss and most importantly...boat racer! Those were some of the best memories in his and in us kids lives. I will never forget Charles teaching me how to ski when I was 7 years old, going out to work with Charles, dad and Frank in the scorching heat, which at the time I thought was fun, to lay asphalt and all of the many, many other great times our families shared together.

Debbie and Bettie, I want you to know how much I love you both and how much I loved Uncle Charles. Though my sorrow is great in this time of loss, I know it can't compare to the sense of loss and pain you are feeling. You are in my thoughts daily; and I am praying for you often.....that God will comfort you and give you strength and peace....that you will feel His presence with you and His love for you each and every day.

Uncle Charles was a kind and gentle man, quiet and strong....much like my Dad; and he, too, loved the Lord and had a servant's heart, as did my father. I miss them both terribly; but, I know that they are truly "home" in Heaven with their creator and I'll seem them again someday. What a glorious reunion that will be, for all of us who have put our faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of God!

Bettie and Debbie -My heart goes out to both of you. Such a handsome man! But of course, far more importantly, he was a kind man. Always had that little smile (I think his smile looked a lot like John's!). Our kids loved playing tennis with him whenever we came to town. I know what you are going through, as I have lost my mom and dad within the last 2 years, and my uncle during Covid when there couldn't be funerals. I will be praying for you in your grief, for the comfort and piece that only God can give. And what a comfort it is to know he is in heaven, suffering no more, completely his whole self - maybe he'll play tennis with my dad sometime!
