Charles Joseph "Joe" Boyd's Obituary
Charles Joseph “Joe” Boyd was born February 15, 1929 in Harleton, TX and began his rest with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 9, 2018.
Joe was a loving husband to Betty A. Galik from October 25, 1953 until his journey home. Together they had two children, Charles Bruce Boyd and John Michael Boyd. He loved his family.
As a young man, Joe was a gifted athlete at Marshall High School and excelled in basketball. After graduation, he served a four year tour of duty in the U.S. Navy and was in numerous conflicts during the Korean War. Upon returning to Marshall, he began his career with Southwestern Electric Power Company until his retirement after thirty two years.
He is preceded in death by his parents and 3 older brothers. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Betty; sons, Chuck and wife Angie of Orange Beach, AL and Mike and wife Van de’ Lee of The Woodlands, TX; sister, Wanda and husband Marvin of Bossier City, LA; brother, Dick and wife Sue of Marshall, TX; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents W.E. and Katie Lou Boyd; brothers William “Bill” Eugene Boyd, Jr., Ragan Martin Boyd and Jack Hollis Boyd.
A Celebration of Joe’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Longview, TX.
