Funeral Services for C. ''Bennett'' Hix, 65, of Longview, will be held at Noon, Thursday, January 31, 2002 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview with the Reverends Tom Roberson and David Lawson officiating. Burial will follow in Rosewood Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM, Wednesday evening, January 30, 2002 at the funeral home. Mr. Hix was born on December 14, 1936 in Atlanta, Georgia, to Anderson and Ethel Hix. He passed away on Monday evening, January 28, 2002 at his residence after a long battle with cancer.
He was a resident of Longview, since 1974 , worked for American Hardware Mutual Insurance Company from 1968 to 1991, with Gans and Smith Insurance Company from 1991 to 2001, and was a member of Oakland Heights Baptist Church.
A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Mr. Hix was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Raymond Hix, Donald Hix, and Andy Hix, and one grandson, Ben Hix. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Barbara Hix of Longview, daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly Jean and Richard E. Menchaca of Kingwood, Texas, three sons, Joel Hix, David Hix, and Chuck Hix, all of Fayetteville, Georgia, grandchildren, Breahna and Bryce Menchaca, and Rebecca and Kristi Hix, brothers and sisters-in-law, Alvin and Ruth Hix of Jonesboro, Georgia, Ralph and Carlene Hix of Griffin, Georgia, sisters and brother-in-law, Martha Mills of Jonesboro, Georgia, and Linda and Bill McElhannon of Rex, Georgia, and many nieces and nephews.
