Charles Archer, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2024, at the age of 80. Born on December 11, 1943, Charles led a life rich in accomplishments and love.
A proud valedictorian of his high school class, Charles went on to earn his degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 1967. He dedicated his career to Eastman Chemical Company in Longview, where his expertise and work ethic made a lasting impact.
In 1961, Charles met the love of his life, Lanell Moraw, in Rosebud, Texas. Their union flourished, and they recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary, a testament to their enduring love and partnership.
Charles was a devoted father to his daughter, Melissa Jackson (Vince) of Lake Cherokee, and son, Jason Archer (Valerie) of Austin. He cherished his role as "Coach" to his grandchildren, Ruby Jean (4) and Tex (2) Archer. His passion for soccer and the joy he found in coaching created precious memories that will be cherished by his family for generations to come.
Charles was pivotal in growing and leading the Greater Longview Soccer Association serving as President, Vice President and accomplished Coach throughout Jason’s soccer career. He was an active member of Saint Matthew’s Catholic Church. Charles was as committed to his community as he was to his family.
