Catherine Patricia Flewharty's Obituary
Graveside services for Catherine Patricia Flewharty, 93, of Longview will be held at 10 AM Saturday, June 26, 2010 at Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Longview with Rev. Mike Schutz officiating. Mrs. Flewharty passed away Thursday morning in a local nursing home. Services are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
Catherine was born on August 17, 1916 in Belton, Texas to Hope and Mildred Agee Carden. She worked as a secretary in Hopkins County, Texas, and later was a housewife and cook extraordinaire. She was a wonderful and loving mother and grandmother. She was an active member of First Methodist Church for over 54 years, where she taught Sunday school. She was also an active member of United Methodist Women, and an active member of the Iris Garden Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Melvin Flewharty; her parents; and her sisters, June Renfroe and Mary Carden.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in-law, Sarah Alice and Tom Davis of Longview; son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Judy Flewharty of Tyler; son, Philip Flewharty of Gilmer; and sister, Hope LaCombe. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Catherine Davis Hosking, Jennifer Davis Morgan, Thomas Davis, Allison Lassahn, Candice Brown, Elizabeth Flewharty, and Casey Flewharty; and 8 great grandchildren.
