Cassandra "Sandy" Bernadette Strong's Obituary
Cassandra “Sandy” Bernadette Strong, a vibrant and beloved soul, passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, in Tyler, Texas, at the age of 75. Born on July 14, 1949, in Odessa, Texas, to Clyde Edward and Helen Jane Bohannon Still, Sandy lived a life filled with joy, love, and service.
After graduating from Big Sandy High School in 1967, Sandy attended Kilgore Junior College, where she earned a secretarial certificate. She then embarked on a fulfilling career as a legal assistant, working for Mr. Rex Houston in Henderson, Texas. A longtime resident of Henderson, Sandy married her loving husband, Ronnie Strong, in 1989.
In her retirement, Sandy found solace and inspiration in the simple pleasures of life. She was an avid gardener, a skilled canner, seamstress, and a talented cook, renowned for her delicious Southern-style meals, especially her mouthwatering pies and cakes. Her boisterous personality and infectious laughter brightened any room she entered. She cherished spending time with her loved ones, often gathering friends and family at the river house on the peaceful shores of Big Cypress Bayou.
Sandy was an active member of the ladies’ church group at Hillview Baptist Church in Henderson. Her faith was a guiding light in her life, and she shared her love and compassion with everyone she met.
Sandy, a beloved wife, sister, mother, and “Mimi,” is survived by her husband of 35 years, Ronnie Strong; children Mark Layne and fiancée Holly Watson, Gena Doss and husband Scott, and Alan Layne; cherished grandchildren, Rhett Doss and wife Stephanie, and Reef Doss; sister Brenda McWilliams and wife Lou Anne Smoot; sister-in-law Tina Still.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Helen Still; brother Rudd Still; nephew Rudd Gordon Still; and granddaughter Roxli Doss.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Hillview Baptist Church, 3949 TX-43, Henderson, TX on Saturday, December 14th, 2024 at 11 AM.
