Carter Allen Jackson's Obituary
Graveside services for Carter Allen Jackson, 83, of Longview will be held at Memory Park Cemetery on Hwy 80, Thursday, May 4, 2017 at 10 a.m. with Reverend Richard Emerson and Reverend David Farmer officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home in Longview. The family will receive friends at the funeral home chapel from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Mr. Jackson was born in Dallas, TX, on August 28, 1933 to Carter Harrison Jackson and Lillian Mae Collins. He passed away on Monday, May 1, 2017 in Longview. He along with his sister, Carol Jackson were reared in Pittsburg, TX. He graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1951. Mr. Jackson joined the Marines during the Korean War. He served from 1952 to 1955 and was stationed in Nara, Japan, where he made the rank of Sgt.
Allen worked at Lone Star Steel and was promoted to superintendent of T & N Lone Star Warehouse in 1970. He then founded and owned Texas Iron and Steel from 1990 until his retirement.
In 1990 he married Kathy Johnston Allbright, his loving wife of 27 years. Allen Jackson was proud to serve as president of the Spring Hill I.S.D. School Board where his children and grandchildren attended school. He also served on the Board of East Texas Council of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse. Mr. Jackson was a member of First Christian Church (Disciple of Christ) in Longview. One of his best memories and happiest years was when he became friends with “Bill W.” and he and Kathy made long lasting friendships with the Class of 1988 and many others. They traveled to convention and speaker meetings to celebrate friends. Allen Also enjoyed, the times spent in Crested Butte, Co. and along the Taylor River, with family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister and daughter Carol Jackson Cox.
Those left to cherish his memory and continue his love are his wife Kathy Jackson: daughter Karen and David Wright; son Vince and Melissa Jackson; step children Chris and Lisa Aynesworth, Clayton and Deborah Aynesworth, Amy Martin-Bolen and Mark Bolen, and Angie Allbright; grandchildren Matt and Sharon Wright, Alli and Trevor Stagner, and Mitchell Wright; and five great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Pine Tree Home Health for his wonderful care before he entered Heritage at Longview and the loving care he received from the amazing Heritage staff and also the Heart to Heart Hospice Team.
