Carolyn La Faye Jiles Smith's Obituary
Carolyn LaFaye Jiles Smith, 83, went to be with her Lord on December 4, 2022 in Longview
Texas.
Carolyn was born on August 17, 1939 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Benjamin Franklin Jiles and
Margaret Chandler Jiles. She met her loving husband Alton and the two of them were married
February 3, 1957. The two of them were married for 65 years. She was a faithful member of
Longview Missionary Baptist Church for over 41 years.
Carolyn was a person who loved with all her heart and always had a smile and a hug to share.
She was a great homemaker who had a love for crafting, gardening, camping, reading, traveling
and cooking. She also loved to celebrate Christmas with the ones she loved.
She is survived by her husband Alton Smith, daughter Kathy Awbrey and son-in-law Larry
Awbrey; son Wayne Smith and daughter-in-law Sandra Smith; son David Smith and
daughter-in-law Julie Smith; grandchildren Michael Awbrey and wife Victoria, Sarah Awbrey,
Jessica Smith and Daniel Smith; great grandchildren Samuel, Rachael, Anna Awbrey; along
with her sisters Diana Jones, Judy McQuiston and Tina Jiles.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents Benjamin Franklin Jiles and Margaret Chandler
Jiles, her brother Dennis Jiles and her stepfather Claude Williamson.
A memorial service for Carolyn LaFaye Jiles Smith, will be held at Longview Missionary Baptist
Church on Wednesday December 7th. Visitation will be held at 9am, with a service at 10am.
Graveside services following at Memory Park Cemetery. Officiating the service will be Bro.
Nathan Rogers and Bro. Tony Harp.
Pallbearers will be Michael Awbrey, Daniel Smith, Clay Baxley, Greg Mars, Randel Waldon, and
Brad Wyatt.
