Carolyn Ann Owings' Obituary
Carolyn Ann Owings of Longview, TX passed away on September 7th, 2018. The celebration of life will be held on Tuesday September 11th at 10:00 am at Peatown Christian Church, Longview, TX with Rev. David Farmer officiating. The service will be directed by Rader
Funeral Home in Longview.
Carolyn Ann was born to Barton and Mabel Grace Griffin on September 16th, 1939. She was a graduate of Longview High School and attended Texas Women’s University in Denton, TX. She received her nursing degree from Kilgore College and worked in various aspects of the nursing field for 30 plus years, including as a traveling nurse throughout the United States. She worked for Good Shepherd Hospital, Meadow Pines, and Jordan Home Health, among others. While working for JHH, she acted as the supervisor for over 20 counties caring for severely handicapped children. Countless families will remember her as a fierce advocate for their children. She will be remembered by many as a talented singer, and performed at numerous weddings, funerals, and church events. Her hobbies included antique collecting, gardening, and reading.
Carolyn Ann was preceded in death by her parents and her infant son, Monte Neal Owings.
She is survived by her son Dr. Keith Owings and wife Traci, daughter Kimberly Pritchard; grandchildren, Amos Owings and wife Taylor, Charity Owings, Elijah Owings, Jayson Pritchard, and Rachel Pritchard; great grandson, Cain Owings; and siblings Carlos Griffin and wife Margaret, Emily Brady and husband Tom, and Sally Henley.
