Carolyn Kay Pettit Woodul
After a long and courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis, Carolyn Kay Petit Woodul, 53, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday Oct. 1, 2004. Graveside services will be held at Woodul Oak Grove Cemetery near Hope, Arkansas at 3 p.m. Monday Octtober 4, 2004 with Reverend Mike Lindstrom officiating. Visiatation will be 6-8 pm Sunday October 3. Interment will be under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. She was a member of the Winterfield United Methodsit Church.
Carolyn was born May 27, 1951 in Henderson, Texas to Joe and Mary Alice Weaver. She graduated from Tatm High School and attended Panola Junior College. She recieved her Bachelor of Science and Master of Education degrees from Stephen F. Austin State University. Carolyn taught school for twenty-three years in the Longview Independent School District at Mozelle Johnston, Ware, and Valley View elementary schools. In 1992 and 1994, Ms. Woodul was recognized for teaching excellence when she was named to "Who's Who among America's Teachers".
Throughout her teaching career, Carolyn helped shape the lives of many children. She loved her students and inspired them to do their very best. She loved being in her classroom, because she made learning enjoyable.
Carolyn was a member of the Texas State Teachers Association and Alpha Delta Kappa Honorary Teachers sorority. She was an officer in several organazations. Carolyn had a beautiful voice and loved to sing. She performed locally and in several surrounding states. Gospel songs were her favorite. She also enjoyed singing Country and Western songs. Carolyn was happiets when singing in church. Many audiences were blessed with her songs about God's love.
Carolyn was afaithful and loving wife, and a precious daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She was a kind, patient and understanding of the needs of others. Her vivacious spirit and her quick laughter made students and friends feel so comfortable. Those who knew her will always have sweet memories of this special lady.
Ms. Woodul was preceded in death by maternal and paternal grandparents, sisters, Carrie Annette Weaver and Charlotte Jo Weaver Curry. She is survived by her loving husband of twelve years, James E. "Woody' Woodul of Longview, parents, Joe D. and Mary Alice Weaver of Tatum, brother, David Weaver and wife Sharon of Longview, sister, Dianne and husband Larry Stuart of Henderson, brother, Daniel Weaver of Dallas. Three step-children and their spouses, James E. and Alvalin Woodul of Killeen, David and Julie Woodul of San Antonio, Charles and Shonna Woodul of Americus, Ga. seven step-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, two step-great grandchildren and many cousins.
The familw wishes to thank Dr. Margaet Schosttstaedt, Dr. Julia Archer and Stephany Wilson with Texas Home Health as well as her care-giver and special friend Dyanne Shepherd for all they did throughout her lengthy illness. Memorial contributions may be amde to Greater Hospice of Texas or Winterfield United Methodist Church.
A memorial service will be held at WInterfield United Methodist Church on October 16, 2004 at 3 p.m.
