Carolyn K. Stepherson's Obituary
Carolyn K. ?Kellie? Stepherson, 55, of Longview, left this earthly life and met her Lord and Savior on Monday, April 26, 2010, at Beacon?s Hospice. Kellie died peacefully with family and friends at her side, after a yearlong battle with Lou Gehrig?s disease ALS.
A memorial service honoring Kellie?s life will be held at 2pm, Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at Rader Funeral Home, in Longview, with Pastor Ronnie Shipman officiating.
Kellie was born January 13, 1955, in Bastrop, Louisiana, to Dorman Mayo and Sandra Warren Mayo. Kellie graduated from Bastrop High School and Northeast Louisiana University. Kellie worked in several professions, including assistant tax assessor in Ouachita Parrish prior to obtaining a degree as an Occupational Therapist.
Kellie and her triplet sons moved to Longview in 2000 where she worked in long term care and home health as a well respected OT.
Loved and admired by her colleagues, Kellie was well known for her excellent clinical skills and most importantly her ability to advocate for patients. Kellie helped many patients rehabilitate after neurological and medical illnesses impacted their independence. Kellie?s sweet spirit, kind smile and sense of humor are some of the many things that her family and friends will truly miss.
Kellie was preceded in death by her parents.
Those left to cherish her memory include her pride and joy triplet sons; Matthew Raine Stepherson, Charles Benjamin Stepherson and Jacob Edward Stepherson; Sister, Pennie Sheets, of Seminole, Texas, and her husband Jerrell; Sister, Terri Mayo, of Brady, Texas; as well as many nieces and nephews. All of Kellie?s dear friends will miss her friendship including; Jessica Roesch and Gabe Roesch and so many more. Kellie was a Christian, who was a devoted mother, sister, aunt and friend. She loved ?her boys? and spending time with friends and family as well as making her patient?s lives as independent as possible.
Special thanks to the administration, doctors, nurses, social worker and staff of Beacon?s Hospice, Amy Stacey of Diagnostic Clinic and to all of the many family and friends for their prayers, phone calls, visits and support during this time.
