Carole Lynn Walker Dodson ?Granny?
A Memorial Service for Carole Dodson, 70, of Longview, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2007 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview with Chester Wayne Wilson officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Following the Memorial, a Wake will be held at the home of Joe and Glenda Wilhelm, 826 Lansing Switch Rd., Longview. Ms. Dodson passed away Sunday evening at Good Shepherd Medical Center following a lengthy illness. She was surrounded by family and friends.
Carole was born April 17, 1937, in Avinger, Texas to Felix T. and Carriemae Walker. She graduated from Avinger High School. Carole was a longtime employee of Great American Foods.
Carole was preceded in death by her one and only precious son, Jim Dodson, in 1991 and her parents.
Carole is survived by five daughters, Tina Cates Dutton, of Bossier City, Louisiana, Glenda and husband Joe Wilhelm of Longview, Donna and husband Johnny Allen, of Diana, Shandra and husband Bill Rash of White Oak, and Vanessa Jenkins Walker of Longview; sister, Mary Walker Edwards of Longview; brother Tommy Walker of Avinger, and sister, Beverly Walker Drew of Longview; thirteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and her loyal and loving dog ?Honey?.
?Granny? enjoyed watching basketball, fishing, visiting with family and friends, and cooking for everyone. Her friends and family were blessed by her open heart. She never met a stranger and treated everyone like family. She was known for her compassion and selflessness.
The family wished to extend a special thanks to Mary Nell Morgan, ?Granny?s? longtime friend and caregiver; Laura and Bill Allen; and Lisa Irions.
