Candace Hays' Obituary
Candace Rockenbaugh Hays, 72, of Longview passed away at 1:15 PM, Monday, November 16, 2020 peacefully at home. She was born on March 20, 1948 in Pilot Point, Texas to Dorothy Mae and Robert Hayden Rockenbaugh. She married James Hays on June 25th 1997 who preceded her in passing by two weeks.
From a young age Candy loved riding horses and embracing life on the ranch. In college Candy found her true calling in teaching and inspiring everyone she encountered. Her knowledge of education combined with her compassion made her a teacher and mentor who will forever be remembered by her students and colleagues. In her retirement Candy rediscovered riding again, traveling countless miles across the country by motorcycle with her husband Jim and sharing her light and inspiration with others at every stop along the way.
Candy leaves behind her sister, Debbie Campbell and husband, Don; son, David Scott Hall; son, Rusty Reed Hall and wife, Amanda; grandchildren, Audrina Waldum and Brayden Waldum, Haley Bledsoe, Kayla Tefteller and husband, Andy, Collan Hays, Kendall Hays, Clayton Hays; great grandson, Lyndon Tefteller; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
