Camille Hendricks "Granny" Minton
Camille Hendricks "Granny" Minton went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 28, 2009. She was born in Fisher, Louisiana on September 25, 1916 to Robert Sidney and Leatha Alford Hendricks.
Services will be 1:30 pm Saturday, January 31st at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Gary Orr officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Many, Louisiana. Visitation will be 12:30 to 1:30 pm.
Mrs. Minton received her education at Northwestern University in Natchitoches, Louisiana and her Master's from Stephen
F. Austin State University. She was a dedicated school teacher for 42 years, teaching in Alliance, Louisiana, Mt. Hermon, Texas, and Bleakwood, Texas. After retiring, she traveled the world extensively and enjoyed the company of her beloved dog, Cricket.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James A. Minton, Sr., and a sister, Mildred Vickers. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, James A. Minton, Jr. and Brenda of Longview and a granddaughter, Lucinda Minton of Longview and several nieces.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Andy Bynum at Hawkins Creek Assisted Living and Memory Care Community and especially to Dr. Margaret Schottstaedt and the nurses and staff at Beacon Hospice at Margaret's House for the loving care given "Granny". The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Beacon Hospice at Margaret's House, 5016 Gilmer Rd., Longview, TX 75608 in memory of Camille H. Minton.
