May the Lord bless and keep you as you work through the days ahead; I'm so sorry that it has to hurt to lose a loved one. I was Dr. Milliken's secretary and then assistant 1984-1986 during her last full-time years at the ACU Library. That was the second time that she had hired me; the first time was to take Mrs. J. P. Lewis desk during the summer vacation in 1959. Callie Faye was founder of many groups during her 33 years of ACU Library Service: Friends of ACU Library, Newsletter for the FACUL, ACU Library volunteers, Christian College Librarians, and Restoration Serials Index. Besides the Brown Library building, she upgraded the library in all the ways that were available to her day by day, for instance, the librarians at ACU attained faculty status because of CFM's leadership. Of course, she was a part of the first-steps of cataloging via computer on OCLC, an online bibliography service. She served on the AMIGOES board that governed the OCLC useage in the West Texas area. She met with other Abilene library directors to work on grants, funding, and collection development. In her honor, the library named the special collections she so carefully put together the Callie Faye Milliken Special Collections. She truly was a Southern lady who found her calling in the academic library world.##imported-begin##Erma Jean Loveland##imported-end##
