C. J. McBroom Jr.'s Obituary
C. J. McBroom, Jr., 83, of Longview, was born on February 17, 1936 in Rusk, Texas.
He passed away peacefully in his home on April 1, 2019. He graduated from Nacogdoches High School in 1954. He married his loving wife, Elizabeth Ann Callaway, on May 31, 1958. He was a proud father of two with Melinda joining the family in 1960, and Melissa joining in 1964. In 1978, he was pleased to welcome his only granddaughter, Crystal, to the family. In 2011, he was happy to have his only great-granddaughter, Lilli join the family.
C.J. is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, his daughter, Melissa McBroom, his granddaughter, Crystal Freeman, and her husband Steven, his great-granddaughter, Lilli Freeman, his great-grandson Matthew Freeman, his brother Tommy McBroom, and his wife Carolyn, his sister, Josephine Watkins, and her husband Charles, and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Melinda Neal, his parents, Curby and Ida McBroom, and several siblings.
Visitation for C. J. is being held at Rader Funeral Home in Longview, Thursday, April 4, 2019 from 5pm to 6pm. Cryptside services will be held the next day, Friday, April 5, 2019, in the mausoleum at Memory Park at 2pm.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the caregivers at Compass Hospice for the outstanding care and support provided over the past few months.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in C. J.’s name.
