Byron Rothpletz's Obituary
Byron Rothpletz, 80, was born June 14, 1933 in Philadelphia, PA and passed away December 11, 2013 in Longview, TX after a lengthy illness. There will be a memorial service to celebrate Byron’s life at 2 pm Saturday, December 21, 2013 at Rader Funeral Home in Longview. As per his wishes cremation and a private scattering by his family will take place at a later date.
Byron graduated from Highland Park High School in Dallas and later earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Texas A&M. He was a proud “Aggie”. He honorably served our country in the US Army. Byron retired from Power Battery. During his salesman days he made many lifelong friends. He was a loving husband; father, brother, uncle and grandfather. Byron loved his large family and wanted to be remembered with joy and laughter. His greatest pleasures were being in the outdoors and cruising on the open road on his Cushman or on the lake in his boat. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a proud Shiner. He was a lifelong member of Highland Park Presbyterian Church.
Byron is preceded in passing by his parents and daughter, Kim Rothpletz. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; children, Jess Rothpletz, Kelli Rothpletz, Kempton Rothpletz and Toni Yancer and her husband Phillip; Stepchildren Mike Owen, Gregg Owen and his wife Robin; Grandchildren Hayden, Hannah and Hudson Yancer, Curry Castro, Bianca and Koby Owen, Great Granddaughter Bella Bagwell; brother John Rothpletz and his wife Bonnie; the mother of Byron’s children Toni Rothpletz and numerous nieces and nephews. Please feel welcome to visit with the family following the service.
