A Celebration of Life Service will be held for Burt B. Smith at 4:00 pm on August 4, 2018 at Longview Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Longview, Texas. Visitation will be held at 3:00 pm prior to the service. Services are under Read Obituary

Burt, Margie, and their children Johanna and Eda became friends of ours - my wife Barbara, our son Adam, and me - in 1978 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Owner and manager of a Tiffany Bakery, Burt and Margie became daily buds of Barbara and Adam on their trips to the mall for delicious bear claws at the bakery. Barbara and Burt learned that he and Margie and we were enthusiastic movie devotees. We saw many good movies together and one “Picnic at Hanging Rock” that none of us liked, although critics rave about to this day. We had so many good times together over the years, including one meeting by chance at the Alpine Visitor Center on Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park. Margie, you were attracted to our dog and then you and Barbara recognized each other. And we had a wonderful time together that weekend. Much love to you and the family. Closing with gratitude for Burt’s life and the good fortune that we became so close over the years. May sweet memories in time wipe away tears from the eyes all of us who grieve now and heal our hurting hearts. Rick and Barbara

Our RV trips with Burt and Marge were so special. We never knew what would be around the next corner - often an impassable wall! Thanks to Burt and Margie's
adventuresome spirit, Ray and I were introduced to the Mexican Lakeside I now call home. "Thanks for the memories", Burt. With the hopes of more special times in Heaven with you and Ray. Love Madelyn
Mr. Smith (Burt) was the first boss, for a paying job, that I ever had. As Joanna's friends, we worked at setting up the banquet room, and helping to serve at parties and dinners at the Chez Vous Motor Lodge. We were inexperienced, but willing to learn, and eager to have a means to earn money - as an added bonus, we got to be with our friends while doing so.
Having worked for him, we were first in line to be hired to work at Tiffany Bakery at South Park Mall. We learned from him a work ethic of dependability, responsibility, and friendly customer service. I have always valued the experience he allowed us, and remember him fondly.

I can tell by his obituary that he certainly left his mark on many lives, and leaves countless good memories for his loved ones to cherish.
Mr. Burt Smith was known to me as the “cookie man”. I work with Joanna and he brought us cookies. Especially during the holidays. They were soooooo good too! Love your smile Mr Burt. Karen Shelton
