Funeral services for B.W. Rogers, of Longview, will be held at 2 PM Friday, May 7, 2004 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview, 1617 Judson Road with David Watts, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery.
Buford Wallace Rogers was born May 7, 1918 in Bridgeport, Texas, to Lee Carlton and Mae Bell Hand Rogers. He passed away on Wednesday, May 5, 2004 in a Longview nursing facility. He grew up in Northeast Texas. He willingly served his country during World War II in the Signal Corps, of the Thirteenth Air Force. He served twenty seven months in the South Pacific from the New Hebredes and Guadalcanal to the Philippine Islands.
Mr. Rogers was employed by AT&T after returning from the war. He was transferred to Southwestern Bell Telephone Co., and retired after 33 years of service. He was a member of the Reel Road Church of Christ.
Mr. Rogers was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and three sisters. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Helen Louise Rogers of Longview; two daughters, Linda Kay and her husband Kenneth E. Lattin of Longview, and Brenda Lee and her husband George Gary Carter of Shreveport, LA.; also, these grandchildren, Lori Lee Lattin of Irving, Kenneth Rogers Lattin and his wife Pamela of Longview, and Cody Crockett Carter of Shreveport, and several nieces and nephews.
