Bruce Wilson's Obituary
Bruce Lamont Wilson passed away on February 13, 2007 at his home in Longview, TX following a lengthy illness.
Born on September 6, 1925 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma to David A. and Stella Wilson, he was the youngest of their four sons: David A. Wilson III, Dr. C. Mark Wilson, and the late Robert L. Wilson.
He served in the United States Navy during World War II and graduated from Okalhoma A&Mnow Oklahoma State University with a degree in Petroleuem Engineering.
After graduating, he was employed by Texaco Oil Company in Kentucky and Illinois. While in Kentucky he met and married Ramona Dean Wood on May 29, 1949 in Smith Mills, Kentucky. The couple began their family and relocated to Longview, TX in 1955 where he began his business as an Independent Oil and Gas Explorer. He was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Longview, Pinecrest Country Club, Shriners Masonic Lodge, Society of Petroleum Engineers. American Petroleum Institute, and Texas Board of Professional Engineers. He was an interested supporter of Junior League of Longview, American Heart Association, Greater Longivew United Way, Parkinsosn Disease Foundation, Presbyterian Camp at Gilmont, and Veterans' Affairs.
In addition to professional endeavors, other interest include ed golf, fishing, and time spent with family and friends at Lake Cherokee and his farm in Gilmer, TX.
His wife Ramona, who passed away January 30, 1994, preceded him in death. Bruce is survived by his son, Kyle L. Wilson and wife Kathy, son Kenton L. WIlson, son Allen B. Wilson and wife Betty Jane, son David A. Wilson and daughter Laura Wilson Ulloa and husband David. Grandchildren include Katherine Wilson Cook and husband Kyle, Jennifer Wilson Wiggins and husband Adam, Valerie Wilson, Kenneth Wilson, Kristina Wilson, Kenton B. Wilson, Reid Wislon, and Joel Wilson. Bruce is expecting his first great-grandchild in June of this year.
Bruce's family would like to express heartfelt thanks to all caregivers and therapists for their kindness and devotion.
Visitation will be from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm, Thursday February 15th, 2007 at Rader's Funeral Home, 1617 Judson Rd. in Longview, TX. Funeral services will be held atr 12:00 Noon, Friday Feruary 16, 2007, in the Chapel at Rader's Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Rosewood Park Cemetery.
