Brad Hull's Obituary
Brad Hull
Brad Hull, 74, lost his very courageous battle with cancer on June 25, 2016. He was born in Spiro, Oklahoma to Jim and Lilly Hull on March 18, 1942. Brad had 7 brothers and 1 sister and was the youngest. There will be a joyful reunion in heaven when they are all reunited.
Brad had three successful careers in his lifetime. He worked as District Maintenance Manager for Ryder Truck Rentals in his early years, and he owned Texas Quick Gas and Food Stores on I-20 in Longview for 17 years. Lately he has owned and managed Quail Lane Properties. Most of his life he also raised cows and calves.
Brad is survived by his wife Candy, with whom he spent 33 years. He had 3 beautiful daughters with his first wife, Shirley Hull; Donna Louise Glenn and husband Tim of Flower Mound, Texas, Angela Gail Hull of Herndon, Virginia, and Rhonda Renee Crossland and husband James of Hallsville, Texas; 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, Stephanie, James Bradley, Sarah, Austin, Christine, Seth, Hollie, Caleb, Emory, Michael, Fiona, Mason and Virginia.
Brad is also survived by his mother-in-law, Doris Smith of Nacogdoches, Texas; a brother-in-law Loren and wife Jane Smith of Houston, Texas; four sisters-in-law, Sherrill and husband Ronnie Holder of Bryan, Texas, Marsha Blount of Nacogdoches, Texas, Lila Hull of Spiro, Oklahoma, and Charlene Hull of Bakersfield, California. He was loved and adored by a host of nieces and nephews.
Brad will be missed by so many friends that traveled many miles with him, including his Gum Bottom gang, his Hochatown, Oklahoma group, along with his many fishing, hunting, golfing and Harley Motor cycle buddies. Brad had many lifelong friends he stayed in contact with all his life, some of whom were waiting on him to join them in heaven. He never met a stranger and saw only the good in everybody. He was very loyal, once you were his friend you were always his friend.
Brad took great pleasure in calling all his friends together at the Harley House for any occasion to cook, laugh and listen to the “old” songs. Hard work and a great sense of humor were his way of life. He saw God’s hand in all living creations and was a great appreciator of woods, mountains, lakes and all wildlife.
His family would like to extend a special thanks to the fine staff at Texas Oncology of Longview, including Dr. Larry Frase and Dr. Bernard Taylor, and Heart’sWay Hospice of Longview for the final care with dignity they gave Brad.
The family is asking that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to First United Methodist Church of Hallsville where he gained much strength and inspiration from the sermons and beautiful music. First United Methodist Church of Hallsville, Texas, 1256 W. Main (Hwy 80 W) PO Box 365, Hallsville, Texas 75650 (fumchallsville.org)
A Celebration of his life will be held at First United Methodist Church, Hallsville, on Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at 11:00 with lunch to follow Raymond’s Party Barn.
