Bonnie Lovett's Obituary
Bonnie Lovett passed from this life into the loving arms of her savior early in the afternoon on Saturday, March 30, 2024. Bonnie was born in Bryceland, LA on July 3, 1941, to Robert Tilley Kethley and Ruby Mae Volentine Kethley. The family moved to Rodessa, LA where Robert worked in the oilfield and Ruby was a renowned cook. Born the fifth of six children, Bonnie attended school in Rodessa and graduated from North Caddo High School in 1959. She married Chester Leon Lovett on February 16, 1962, and they remained married for 62 years up to the time of her death.
Bonnie is the mother of two children, Jeffrey Lovett, who preceded her in death, and Jennifer Lovett (DeVane). In 1978 the family moved from Houston to Gilmer, TX, where Bonnie worked and started two small businesses, including the Lighthouse Christian Bookstore, and where Leon worked in local industry, and Jeff and Jennifer completed high school. Bonnie is Granny to four grandchildren, Caleb, Jonathan, Bethany, and Melody Gibson, and three great-grandchildren. She was always active in her church, and taught Sunday School to both children and adults for many years. Later in life she suffered greatly from osteoporosis and related injuries, which limited her church activities, but she was ready to go very quickly when her Lord called her home on the Saturday just before Easter.
Bonnie is survived by her husband and daughter; and her sister, Barbara Fitch of Marshall.
A public celebration of Bonnie’s life is planned for Saturday, April 13, between 10 and 11 a.m. in the new Perkins Chapel at Woodland Hills Baptist Church in Longview. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to a charity of their choice.
