Bonnie Jean Hardy's Obituary
Bonnie Jean Dollar Hardy "Gee Gee" of Henderson went to be with her Lord and Savior of December 8, 2008. Funeral services will be held Thursday December 11, 2008 at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Henderson with Rev. Mark Headrick and Rev. Ray Ludwig officiating. Burial will follow in the in the Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Bonnie Jean Dollar Hardy was born December 14, 1913 to Floyd W. Dollar & Minnie Lambeth Dollar in Henderson, Texas. She was a devoted and loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt. The greatest joy and pleasure in her life was her family. She was a lifelong member of the First Freewill Baptist Church in Henderson.
She worked her entire life, sometimes for the public and always for her family. In 1996, when the Gaston Museum first opened in White's Snack Shop, Bonnie Jean was one of the first volunteers. She enjoyed sharing her knowledge regarding the events of the 1930's with anyone who visited the shop. She was a very special and described often as "one of a kind". Everyone that knew her loved her and will always remember her as "Gee Gee".
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents Floyd W. & Minnie Lambeth Dollar, husband George L. Hardy, a sister and brother-in-law Emma Dollar Madden & J.R. Madden Jr. , and a great grandson Ryan.
Survivors include two daughters and son-in-laws, Barbara & Harland Barton of Henderson, Linda & Richard Abbott of Nacogdoches, and a brother & sister-in-law Fred & Frances Dollar of College Station. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Sherri Sadler & husband Paul of Henderson, Beverly Rivers & husband Rickey of Henderson, Chris & Sherry Gibbs of Longview, Melinda & Tim Chambers of Price, and Todd Gibbs of Austin. Great grandchildren are Lee Sadler, Joel Sadler, Sam Sadler, Colby Elliott, Seth Elliott, Matthew Gibbs, Jessica Gibbs, Jared Haydel, Trent Haydel, Taylor Haydel, Chris Rivers, Hannah Rivers, Erin Sadler, and Brandon Sadler, and four great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Chris Gibbs, Todd Gibbs, Lee Sadler, Joel Sadler, Colby Elliott, and Jared Haydel. Honorary Pallbearers will be Sam Sadler, Seth Elliott, Chris Rivers, Trent Haydel, Taylor Haydel, Matt Gibbs, and Jessica Gibbs.
The family will meet friends at the funeral home from 5-7pm Wednesday.
Donations may be made to Life Care Hospice, 320 North Street, Nacogdoches, Texas or to Jordan's Health Services in Longview, Texas or Center, Texas for their loving care of "Gee Gee"
