Deborah, your dad was larger than life and his influence in the United Methodist Church and especially the Texas Conference will live on forever. Praying for your family during this time.
To the family of Dr. Parrott, I am am so very sorry for your loss. Each of you are in my prayers. Dr Parrott gave me a Bible, when I was a small child. I still have it, today. It is on an end table, in my living room. The date he wrote inside of the Bible was 10-3-76. I remember he told me don’t put it on a shelf and don’t place another book, or anything on top of it. He also talked about John 3:16.
Rest In Peace, with our Lord and Savior, Dr. Parrott. You will be missed here on earth, but we will see you again, one day.
Dr Parrott was a giant of a personality and his own man. He wielded influence and humor and foundational ideas “from the earth to the moon.” He was a giant among the strong leaders of the Texas Annual Conference and never at a loss for leadership. Surely he has “slipped the surly bonds of earth to touch the face of God” and we are all richer and better for his having lived.
