Bobby R. Burton, Sr.'s Obituary
Bobby Ray Burton Sr., a saint and servant of Christ Jesus, took his first breath in heaven on May 18, 2016. He was born on July 31, 1936 in Corsicana, TX to parents Clyde and Rittie Burton. He attended school in Kilgore and Leverett’s Chapel. While serving in the National Guard, he met and married the love of his life, Clara Edney Burton, in September of 1959. He served his customers and retired from Brookshire’s after 33 years. He was then employed by Bill Gordon Brokerage for 17 years. Again coming out of retirement, he served for 7 years at Skinner’s Grocery of Lakeport. Bobby was a faithful member of Oakland Heights Baptist Church where he was a member of the John Richardson 65 Plus Men’s Sunday School Class.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Clara of 57 years, his children, son Bobby Ray Jr and wife Diana of Longview, son James and wife Marie of The Woodlands, daughter Denise and husband Jeff Willard of Gilmer, son Gary and wife Tricia of Pittsburg. Grandchildren Wesley and wife Sheena, Briana and husband Timothy, Lane, Daniel, Megan and great grandchildren Avery and CJ, his sister Joyce Arnold, several nieces, nephews, cousins and many cherished friends.
Serving as pall bearers are Dan Belzung, Ralph Greening, David Gerrish, James Burcham, Larry Frantzen, and Michael Wells.
Funeral services will be 12 noon Monday, May 23, 2016 at Oakland Heights Baptist church in Longview. Interment will follow in the mausoleum at Lakeview Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 5pm-8pm Sunday, May 22, 2016 at Rader Funeral Home in Longview.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Oakland Heights Baptist Church Youth Mission Trip Fund.
