Bobby Clarence Barnes' Obituary
Bobby Clarence Barnes, 95, died on October 31, 2024, in Longview, Texas, after a short illness. He was born on September 28, 1929, in Terrell, Kaufman County, Texas as the only son of Arthur D. Barnes and Mable C. Rector Barnes.
Bobby graduated from Longview High School, class of 1948. He enlisted in the National Guard on July 20, 1948, and was an expert marksman in the Armory. In his 20’s, he was an airplane pilot and owned his own plane.
He married his wife, Margaret Alice Webb, on October 4, 1957, in Longview, Texas, where they welcomed twin daughters, Rebecca Jane and Pamela Elaine in 1958 and later, Kelly Louise, in 1964.
He was predeceased by his parents, and by his wife of 60 years, Margaret Webb Barnes. He is survived by his daughters, Rebecca Fahle (husband Steven A.), Pamela Hall (husband Bradley S.) and Kelly Stuart (husband Mark S.) 8 granddaughters, one step grandson, 8 great granddaughters, 4 great grandsons (with 1 on the way!) His first grandchild was born on his birthday in 2006!
Bobby started his career in the petroleum industry soon after he got out of high school, joining Trice Production Company in 1957. He went out on his own after a few years and created BOMAR Enterprises, Inc. and worked independently as a Certified Petroleum Landman until his retirement in his 70’s. He was able to put all three of his daughters through University, the Twins went to Baylor, and Kelly went to Texas Tech. (He trained many people in his profession, including his daughter, Pamela and her husband, Bradley.) Due to his keen interest in history, he and Margaret spent many years traveling and getting to see American historical sites. Bobby’s favorite pastime, besides jogging several miles a day, was to fly fish in Colorado and other beautiful mountainous areas, whether with his friends, his son-in-law, Steven, or even by himself. Camping trips with his girls as they grew up, teaching them to fish and water ski are some of their favorite memories!
There will be a Family Directed Celebration of Life on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Gum Springs Cemetery, Longview, Texas.
