Bobby Barksdale's Obituary
Bob Barksdale, 90, of Longview, Texas, passed away peacefully in his home on September 6th, 2024. Bob was born on October 31st, 1933 to Alfred Fletcher Barksdale and Edna Ernestine Hamilton in Colt, Arkansas. After school, Bob enlisted in the US Navy where he served 6 years. In 1976, he met his beautiful wife, Carol, in Longview where they wed in 1978. During his working years, Bob was a livestock inspector, auctioneer, and primarily, car salesman. In retirement, he spent his time gardening and raising chickens as well as enjoying his family. Bob had 50 years of sobriety upon his death and he was integral in the sobriety stories of countless others through his affiliation with AA. Bob is preceded in death by parents Alfred Barksdale and Edna Hamilton, sister Rebecca Abram, children Lisa Walsh and Michael Barksdale. He is survived by his loving wife Carol Barksdale, sister Betty Loscher, children Stephen Barksdale and wife Joanne, Robbi Mauldin and husband Ben, and Matt Barksdale as well as grandchildren Justin Barksdale and wife Heather, Jenna Barksdale, Courtney Brooks and husband Stephen, Mallan Morris and husband Trenton, Molly Mauldin, and Savana Abel. Bob was also blessed with several great grandchildren Landon Barksdale, Kennedy Barksdale, Presley Beard, Emma Brooks, Ella Brooks, Evie Brooks, and John Hoss Morris. Services will be held Thursday, September 12th, at Rader Funeral Home at 12:00 PM with a visitation at 11:00 AM.
