Blackshear Jameson's Obituary
Funeral services for Blackshear Jameson, 87, of Longview will be 10 AM Saturday, April 30, 2005 at the First Christian Church with Revs. Phil Jones and David Lindwall officiating under direction of Rader Funeral Home. Entombment will follow in the Yates-Hurst Mausoleum at Grace Hill Cemetery.
Blackshear went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, April 28, 2005 after a battle with congestive heart failure. He was born January 23, 1918 in Amarillo, Texas to Edwin Reese and Lela Blackshear Jameson.
He was a 1942 graduate of Southern Methodist University and a 1947 graduate of Perkins School of Theology. He was an ordained minister and had served on the board of the Perkins School of Theology.
Blackshear moved to Longview when he married his wife of 60 years, Jacquelyn Hurst Jameson. He was a devoted Christian, husband, father, and friend to many in Longview and around the country.
As owner of Jameson Construction Company, he enjoyed building both commercial and residential projects. He was a member of First Christian Church, long-time teacher of the Loyal Men?s Bible Class, and a member of the Longview Rotary Club where he enjoyed 57 years of perfect attendance.
There were many endeavors close to his heart, such as Christian Youth Fellowship camp, which he was instrumental in founding. He was a former longtime administrator of the Hurst Hospital, former pastor of Founders Christian Church, and supporter of many local civic and charitable organizations. He was a board member of the Gregg Home for the Aged and was a former High School coach, teacher, and principal in Forney and Irving, Texas. He was a big supporter of the SMU Mustang Club and other SMU groups.
His parents and his daughter, Jean Jameson, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Jacquelyn; son and daughter-in-law, Blackshear Hurst and Karen Jameson; Daughters, Mary Alice Dulweber and Jacquelyn Simpson all of Longview; son and daughter-in-law, Kelly and Jane Jameson of Houston. Grandchildren, Ginny Jameson, Brandy Maxwell, Audrey Bell, Lacy Jameson, Ashley Dulweber, Allison Dulweber, Christina Dulweber, Bill Simpson, Kelly Simpson, Sarah Jane Jameson, Joseph Jameson, Joy Elizabeth Jameson, Josiah Jameson and Jonathan Jameson. Sister, Elizabeth Walsh of Dallas and some nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, April 29, 2005 from 6 until 8 PM.
