Billy Warren Formby
Billy Warren Formby passed away on April 12, 2005 from a heart attack at the age of 70.
He was born on April 19, 1934 to Narval and Thelma Formby in Patmos, Arkansas who preceded him in death.
Bill graduated from Lewisville High School and the University of Houston with a degree in petroleum engineering. He served in the U. S. Army from 1954 to 1958 and was stationed among other places, in Heidelberg, Germany, where his eldest daughter was born.
Bill worked his way through college with Atlantic Richfield Oil Company and continued working there until his retirement in 1983. He always treasured his many ARCO friendships, especially that of Ethel Havins. In addition to his full-time job, Bill worked with his good friends, Tom Cherry, the late Don Mason, and the late Bud Thedford, in several ventures, with Ron Jurenka and Damien Luke in various oil and gas partnerships, the most recent being Ranger Oil Company.
Bill is survived by his children, Suzanne and Mark Marshall of Austin, Stacey and Steve Taggart Dallas, Steve Formby of San Marcos, Texas. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Chris, Drew, Zoe and Lilly he is survived by two brothers, Theo Formby as well as Theo?s wife Ava and their children Duane and Belinda Formby, Cheryl and Gary Banks, and David and Vanessa Formby, and other nieces and nephews. Bill enjoyed the friendship of Jim and Claudette Little of Longview for many years. He will be especially missed by his dear friend, Virginia Blythe Young, of Bossier City.
Visitation will be at the Smith Funeral Home in Stamps, Arkansas from 6pm to 8pm on the evening of Thursday, April 14th . Burial will take place in Patmos, Arkansas at Mount Nebo Cemetery at Ten a.m. on Friday April 15th. A memorial service will be held on Friday April 15th at 3pm at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel in Longview, Texas with Reverend Bobby Moore officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
