Billy John Vineyard's Obituary
Billy John Vineyard, age 96, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2025, in Longview, Texas, surrounded by the warmth of his loving family. Born on January 12, 1929, in Comanche, Texas, to A.E. Vineyard and Florence Irene Gray Vineyard, Billy led a life filled with resilience, dedication, and an unwavering spirit. He will be deeply missed by all who have the privilege of knowing him. At the age of 21, Billy joined the United States Army. He served proudly for two years in Korea, where he received the Korean Service Award with 1 Bronze Service Star. Later in life he began a relationship with his special friend Dolores “D” McDowell. They were together for over 30 years.
Billy cherished his role as a devoted father to his children, Johnny, Kenny, Leesa, Kelvin, and Corey. He was a pillar of strength for his family, providing guidance, support, and unconditional love. He is preceded in death by his parents A.E. and Florence Vineyard. His lasting memories will be carried on by his surviving family, children Johnny Vineyard and spouse Trish, Kenny Vineyard and spouse Lisa, Leesa Vineyard, Corey Vineyard and spouse April, and Kelvin Vineyard and spouse Stacy. He is also survived by grandchildren, Corey Vineyard and spouse Tracie, Joni Vineyard-Rice and spouse Scott, Toadie Vineyard and spouse Heather, Cari Vineyard-Waggoner and spouse Leroy, Tye Gibson and spouse Garrett, Jesse Vineyard and spouse Miranda, Jessica Vineyard-Douglas and spouse Nathan, Jennifer Vineyard-Barbosa and spouse Lee, Julie Vineyard, Cody McCoy, B.J. McCoy and spouse Megan, Taylor Vineyard, Levi Moore, Alexa Stewart, Katelyn Stewart, Dylan Vineyard, Nicole Vineyard, and Shelby Vineyard, great grandchildren, Tristan Douglas and spouse Brooke, Bryson Douglas, Landon Vineyard, Olivia Vineyard, Sawyer Watson, Parker Vineyard, Hudson Barbosa, Wyatt McCoy, Elijah McCoy, James Washburn, Caitlynn McCoy, Hadley McCoy, Raelynn Moore, Daegan Williams, Campbell McKinney, Madi Crews and spouse Jackson, Ali Vineyard, Joscelyn Rice, Sean Aubree Rice, Aden Vineyard, Landree Vineyard, Delani Waggoner, Hadlee Waggoner, Ramzey Salter, Tate Salter, Brody Salter, great great grandchildren Wrenlee Crews, Zayan Smith, and special friend, Dolores “D” McDowell.
Professionally, Billy made his mark as a Machinist Foreman, for Mobile Pipeline, demonstrating a commitment to craftsmanship that was respected by his colleagues. Throughout his life, he embodied the hard work and integrity characteristic of his generation.
Family and friends will gather to honor and celebrate his life at Pine Tree Church of Christ on February 18, 2025, beginning at 10:00 AM with a time of visitation, followed by a service at 11:00 AM. These services will provide a heartfelt opportunity for loved ones to share memories, express their condolences, and bid farewell to a remarkable man. A graveside service will take place the following day at Taylor's Chapel Cemetery, in Comanche, Texas, on February 19, 2025, at 2:00 PM.
