Billy Wayne Townsend's Obituary
Services for Billy Wayne Townsend, 87, of White Oak, will be on March 8, 2018, at Rader Funeral Home in Longview,Texas. Visitation will be at 10:00 am with the funeral following at 11:00 am. Dr. Tim Smith and longtime friend, David Reynolds will be officiating the funeral service. Burial will be in the new White Oak Cemetery, in White Oak, Texas.
Mr. Townsend passed away on the evening of March 3, 2018 in Longview, Texas.
Billy Townsend was born September 16, 1930, in Upshur, Texas, to William Andrew and Madeline Townsend, deceased.
On August 7, 1950, he married Yvonne Townsend, at Thornton Street Baptist Church, in Houston, Texas.
Billy was married to the love of his life for a total of 62 years until the time of her death in 2012. He was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. His greatest joy in life was his family. During his lifetime, he enjoyed traveling with friends and family. He had such a passion for working in his yard, which was enjoyed by all that passed by his home.
He is survived by his two daughters and son in laws, Gary and Beverly Barnett of White Oak, and Bobby and Sandy Dickerson of Gilmer; three grandchildren; Jason Ritterbusch and wife, Laura of San Antonio, Cady Martin and husband, Cody of Longview, and Cory Dickerson and wife, Melanie of Longview. He was blessed with three great grandchildren, Hunter and Sawyer Martin and Henry Ritterbusch.
He was preceded in death by his four brothers and four sisters; Hollis Townsend, Burl Townsend, Earl Townsend and Sport Townsend, Opal Muckleroy, Avis Howard, Aleath Killingsworth and Edith Lester. He was also preceded in death by his daughter Brenda Elaine Townsend, and wife, Yvonne Townsend.
