Billy R. Powers' Obituary
Billy R. Powers, 82, of Longview, passed away, Friday, June 15, after a courageous battle with congestive heart failure and a severe
case of shingles.
Mr. Powers was born July 28, 1924 in Lometa, Texas, later coming to Longview after spending time in World War II, serving in the US Army Air Corps.
Billy owned and operated an air conditioning and heating company and was involved in rental property maintenance.
He enjoyed his motor home, singing and playing his guitar.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ona Kaiser; sister, Dorotha Hatfield, and several aunts and uncles.
Survivors include his wife, Melba Powers; daughters, Kay Whiteside and husband, Ernest, of Hallsville; Debi Barry and husband, Tim of Florida, Connie Ryan of Longview; sons, Harold and Jack Bridges; 10 grandchildren, Hollie Whiteside, Melissa Belk, Jake, Jed, Jennie, Joni Bridges, Toni and Pete Ryan,
Keri and Jay Bridges; nephew, Norman Hatfield, niece, Ona Harworth, 12 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at 12 Noon in the chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview with Hospice Chaplain David Reeder officiating. Entombment will follow in Memory Park Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 6-8 PM..
