Billy H. McDaniel's Obituary
Billy H. McDaniel, formerly of Longview, Texas passed away peacefully Thursday, August 15, 2024 in North Richland Hills, Texas, surrounded by family. He loved deeply, was loved deeply and will be missed by all.
Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, August 21st at 10:00 AM, Rader Funeral Home, 1617 Judson Rd., Longview, TX followed by a graveside service at 1:00 PM, Lakeview Memorial Gardens, 5000 W. Harrison Rd., Longview, TX. On Saturday, August 24th at 10:00 AM there will also be a memorial service at his home church, Heritage Church of Christ at 4201 Heritage Trace Parkway, Fort Worth, TX.
Bill was born November 4th, 1930 in Longview, Texas to Leland Tim and Ara Anna McDaniel. A graduate of Longview High School, class of 1948, Bill then attended Stephen F. Austin graduating in 1953 with a degree in Forestry. While attending, he was on the winning golf team of the Lone Star Conference Golf Championship in 1951 and 1952. After college Bill enlisted in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955 where he received the Distinguished Shooter Recognition in 1955. Bill met and married the love of his life Thatcherette Lake of Lufkin, Texas in June of 1956. They were blessed with three children. Bill and Thatcherette moved to Longview, Texas in 1960 where they resided for 52 years. Bill was an established businessman, owner of Dixie Automotive serving Texas and Louisiana. He continued his love of golf and remained active in the sport until he hung up his clubs at the ripe age of 82. Bill and Thatcherette were long time members of Pine Tree Church of Christ in Longview where they were supporters of many mission and outreach programs. Faith and belief in God played a big role in his life and the life of his family. He was a living example of God and Christ leaving a powerful legacy of godly love by serving others. Bill and Thatcherette moved to North Richland Hills in 2012 to be closer to children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and Bill is currently a member of Heritage Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leland and Ara McDaniel, wife Thatcherette McDaniel, and brothers Reggie and Teddy McDaniel. He is survived by loving children, daughter Debbie Wise and husband Steve, daughter Dana Fielder and husband Phil, son Bill, Jr., grandchildren Jennifer and Brandy, Ashley and Tim, Tucker and Cassie, Tanner and Meghan, great –grandchildren Maddox and Corwin, his twin brother Tommy and wife Nina, and many extended loving family members.
