Billy Jack Reeves' Obituary
Funeral services for Billy Jack Reeves, 73, of Longview will be held at 2 PM Monday, January 16, 2012 at Oakland Heights Baptist Church with Reverend Kevin Bright officiating. Burial will follow in Rosewood Park. Services are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Mr. Reeves passed away Friday morning in a local hospital after a long courageous battle with Parkinson's and cancer. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 4-6 PM at the funeral home.
Billy Jack, the son of Otis and Ruby Reeves, was born on June 29, 1938 in Gladewater, TX where he grew up and graduated high school. He was also a graduate of East Texas State University. He played professional baseball for the Cincinnati Reds farm team. Mr. Reeves taught school and was a coach at Ware and Valley View Elementary. He worked at Texas Eastman and retired after thirty years of service. He was married to the love of his life, Joy Ann Morrow on June 17, 1967. He was a member of Oakland Heights Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was an avid golfer, jokester, and loved his family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 44 years, Joy Morrow Reeves; his daughters, Jill Reeves from Dallas, and Jan Morton and her husband Josh from Carbondale, Colorado; and other extended family and friends.
The family request that memorial contributions be sent to Oakland Heights Baptist Church Benevolence Fund at 1600 Judson Rd, Longview, TX 75601.
