Billy B. Patrick's Obituary
Funeral services for Billy B. Patrick, age 83, of Henderson will be held Thursday May 15, 2008 at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Henderson with Rev. Bill Gardner officiating. Burial will follow in the Rusk County Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of the Rader Funeral Home of Henderson.
Mr. Patrick passed away Monday May 12, 2008 in Tyler.
Son of the late Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Patrick of the Brachfield Community. Billy was born August 1, 1924 in Panola County, and attended the Patrick School. A World War II veteran, he served two years in the U.S. Army Air Corps in Germany. He was awarded the Army Occupation Ribbon Germany, The Victory Ribbon, the Overseas Bar and discharged with rank of Staff Sergeant.
He was married May 19, 1945 to the former Helen Hall. A self-employed truck driver, he was co-owner of Henderson Sand and Gravel, and later employed by R.T. Smith Welding Company before his retirement.
Billy was a former member of the First Baptist Church, and was instrumental in helping organize the Trinity Baptist Church where he was a charter member, and served as an ordained deacon. At the time of his death he was a member of the Southside Baptist Church.
He loved gospel singings and attended many "singings" when he was able. He was a pilot and enjoyed flying his plane at the Rusk County Airport in years past. A patriot, he loved his country and took great pride in flying the flag.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, his sister and her husband, Connie Belle and Boyd Patrick, and niece Beth McCormack Lane.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Helen Hall Patrick, a son Dr. Paul Patrick of Arlington, a daughter and her husband Cindy and Wilton Adams, one granddaughter Jennifer Adams, one grandson Brandon Adams , all of Henderson. a number of brothers and sisters in law, nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Glen Deason, Charles Cowan, Lynn Wallace, Roy Hall, Rocky Hall, Kelly Hall, Louis Hall, and John Bubba Newton. Honorary Pallbearers will be Richard Smith, Wayne Freeman, Neil Pennal, D.J. Burks, and Richard Patrick.
Family Visitation will be from 6-8pm Wednesday at the Funeral Home.
If desired memorials may be made to the Southside Baptist Church Building Fund , 1801 Old Nacogdoches Rd., Henderson, Texas 75654 in lieu of flowers.
