Denise Lenard
We first met in the 1970s as a result of my friendship with one of your neighbors who was friends with your son, Gary who became my friend also.
Gary was very supportive and encouraged me to go to college.
As the years passed, I became friends with Mike and Sheila. Because of your children, I had many opportunities to engage with you and your family especially on Sundays for delicious meals consisting of your husbands famous fresh fish and all the trimmings. Afterwards, we would watch the Dallas Cowboys during football season.
During the summer months, I visited with you and your children. You were an amazing lady. You kept a well-appointed home, enjoyed cooking evening meals for your family and showed much interest in your children.
When my father opened his restaurant, you and your husband would dine with us. It was great to see you and Mr. Embrey!
As the years passed, we lost touch. You all moved to Longview, TX. However, we reconnected during the1990s and from that time on, we stayed in touch.
It was during the years you lived in Longview that our friendship grew. We shared some fun times visiting at your home on Oliver. You had so many interests and much talent for decorating...another beautiful home!
We continued to stay in touch via phone and my occasional day trips to Longview to visit both you and your husband. We engaged in interesting conversation. Mr. Embrey always had a joke to share or an interesting, funny story. I remember how much laughter we shared! Those were some very special moments.
You became an important part of my life, sharing with me "words of wisdom," and stories about your life, including your grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom you loved dearly!
I am eternally grateful for all the time we spent together. We made the most of the moments we shared which were truly interesting and fun. I feel so very blessed to have known you, your husband and children; you all were like family to me.
I shall forever cherish our special friendship. I love you!
