Billie Denson - Clawater's Obituary
Billie Louise Denson-Clawater was born in Troup to Jess and Gussie Lora Whitford. Mrs. Clawater passed away on March 17, 2018 at the age of 92.
After her father died in 1940, Billie along with her mother and niece Dixie Lee Whitford, moved to Overton where Billie finished her high school days. The family then moved to Palestine. Billie and her older sister, Doris Odessa Bradley, worked to support the family at the movie theaters. Billie met Norris A. Denson and they married in 1950 followed by birth of their daughter, Teresa Lynn. The Denson family moved to Longview in 1957 where Norris was employed by Otis Engineering. His company moved him and Billie to Louisiana, Venezuela, Singapore and back to Longview where she became active in various businesses in the 60’s and 70’s.
After her husband’s death, Billie married Dr. Earl Clawater of Tyler, he passed away in 2005. Billie lived alone in Tyler until her health declined.
She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Fitzgerald and her husband Jerry of Boerne, Texas; niece Dixie Lee Hanks of Houston; great niece Amy Peacock Tillman and her husband Scott of Longview; great nephews Wendell Peacock of Dallas, Terry Hanks of Houston and her nephew by marriage Frank Peacock of Longview.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, her sisters, Doris Jones and Cossette Whitford and her niece Dorothy J. Peacock.
Billie was a one of kind person and to know her was an experience and a time that you treasured. Her love of fashion and decorating stayed with her throughout her life.
She had many close friends and caregivers that made her last years more comfortable. Thanks to Buckner Westminister Place in Longview and New Hope Assisted Living in Boerne, TX for their loving care.
Services for Mrs. Clawater will be held on Monday, March 26, 2018 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home at noon. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
