Bill Edward Blalock's Obituary
Bill Edward Blalock Funeral services for Bill Edward Blalock, 77, of Hallsville, will be held at Noon Wednesday, February 4, 2004 at the Hallsville First United Methodist Church, with the Reverend Randy Hageman offi-ciating. Burial will follow in Hallsville Cemetery under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview, 1617 Judson Road. Military honors will be presented by the VFW Jefferson Texas Post 10373 for his many years of service to his coun-try. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday evening, February 3, 2004 at the funeral home. Mr. Blalock was born on September 15, 1926 in Hallsville to Will and Rosa Bla-lock. He passed away on Sunday eve-ning, February 1, 2004 at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer. Mr. Blalock served on the Hallsville City Council, was a 34 year veteran of the Hallsville Volunteer Fire Department, he helped organize the Hallsville Little League, where he served as President for the first two years, and coached for sev-eral, he proudly served as a Scout Master for Hallsville?s first four Eagle Scouts, and served six years on the Harrison County Appraisal District. He was also a member of the Sons of Republic of Texas, American Legion, a life member of the DAV, he was a member of the Hallsville H. Association since 1942 and served as President in 1952, he was a Charter Member of the East Texas Coun-cil of Government, and a member of the Hallsville First United Methodist Church since 1946 where he served as a Trustee Board member and on many committees. He served his country with the NAVY during World War II, and retired from the U.S. Postal Service after almost 32 years of service. A loving husband, father, and grandfa-ther, Mr. Blalock was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mildred Blalock of Halls-ville; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Rick Turner of Hallsville; grandsons, Rodney Turner and his wife Tonya of Fort Worth, Craig Turner and his wife Kathy of Rowlett, Michael Turner and his wife Francesca of Pflugerville; six great grandchildren; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Jones; sis-ter-in-law, Mrs. Virgie Pool, and many nieces and nephews.
