Bill L. Davis' Obituary
Billy (Bill) Leon Davis passed away February 23, 2016. He was born to George and Lucette Davis in Goodwin Community of San Augustine County on March 30, 1932. Bill was a lifelong resident of East Texas.
At heart, Bill was always the farm boy he grew up as. Imbued with a love of the outdoors, he spent his free time traveling and camping with his family or simply tending his ever productive garden. He served his country during the Korean War by enlisting in the United States Air Force for three years. Bill had a long professional life with a variety of careers, his final before retirement as a newspaper distributer for the Dallas Morning News in the Longview area.
62 of Bill's 84 years were spent in loving marriage to his wife Shirley Davis, whom he is survived by. He is preceded in death by his son, Billy "BJ" Davis Jr., his parents, and his brother Earl Davis. Bill is also survived by his children Alan Davis, Linda and Steve Nash; siblings Georgia Lou Battles, Maudie Leach, Homer and Glenda Davis; six grandchildren, four great grand children, one great-great grandchild, as well as countless nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2pm, Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Hallsville Church of Christ. Interment will follow services at Rosewood Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bill's name to the Hallsville Church of Christ.
