Bettye House Eastburn Hill's Obituary
Bettye House Eastburn Hill was born July 3, 1926 in Birmingham Alabama to Manly B. and Margaret Elizabeth House. She passed away in Longview, Texas on May 18, 2019 surrounded by her family.
Bettye had lived in Longview for sixty five years and was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Longview. There, she taught Sunday School, worked in the church nursery, and served as a wedding and bridal assistant. After her children went to college, she went to work in the Longview High School library where she loved working with the students and made lifelong friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Manly B. and Elizabeth House, sister, Tommie McEuen of San Antonio, her children’s father, Baxter McFarland Eastburn, Jr., and later, by her second husband, Roy Martin Hill.
She is survived by her children, Allen Eastburn, Susan Eastburn Cook and husband Randy, Mary Eastburn White, and Nancy Eastburn Flanagan and husband Clay. Bettye adored her grandchildren, Emily Holloway and husband Rob, Stephanie Glaze and husband Sean, Zack Eastburn and wife Meagan, Britton Eastburn, John Flanagan and wife Hannah, Sarah Flanagan, and bonus grandchildren, Nick White and wife Hope, and Natalie White. The youngest joys in Bettye’s life were her great grandchildren, June, Baxter, Hazel, Phoebe, Christopher, Samuel, Kipp and Ava.
It is our family’s hope that when you think of Mom, you will remember her gift of making everyone feel at home on Bell Street. Even as teenagers, everyone who entered her home was made to feel like family and always enjoyed good food on the table and loving conversation. We also wish to express our sincere appreciation for the staff of Summer Meadows Rehabilitation and Long-Term Care.
