Betty Stevens' Obituary
Services for Betty Sue Stevens, 70, of Longview, will be held 2 PM Tuesday, January 27, 2004 at the Greggton United Methodist Church with Dr. Lynne Settlemyre, Anthony Caggiano and Todd Fleming officiating.
Interment will follow at 4 PM in Sabine Cemetery , north of Lindale.
Mrs. Stevens died Saturday, January 24, 2004 at a local medical center.
Mrs. Stevens had lived in Longview since 1962, coming from Lindale where she was born January 29, 1933 to Archie and Geneva Fleming. After graduating from Lindale High School, Mrs. Stevens graduated from Tyler Junior College and received her advanced degree from the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University.
Mrs. Stevens was most recently employed as assistant vice president at Southside Bank, where she was honored in April 2003 for her 50 years in banking. She had retired from Texas Commerce Bank where she enjoyed 29 years of service. She was also employed by 1st National Bank of Marshall and Lindale State Bank.
Mrs. Stevens had been active in many organizations throughout her life, including East Texas Chapter of the American Institute of Banking, Longview Bankers Educational Committee, Southwest Region of the National Association of Bank Women, Special Organization Services SOS, Greater Longview United Way, Oak Crest Woman?s Club, Longview Woman?s Forum, Zonta Club, Executive Association of Bank Women, and The Mental Health Association of Gregg County.
Mrs.Stevens married Billy W. Stevens on December 12, 1963. They were married 38 years. He preceded her in death in February 2001.
Betty is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Bettina S. and Anthony Caggiano of Plano; three grandchildren, Noah Parson, Luke and Cade Caggiano of Plano; two sisters, Juanita Sandlin of Ft. Worth, Frances Stevens of Gladewater; one brother, Joe Fleming of Lindale, TX; three sisters-in-law, Martha Fleming of Lindale, Virginia Fleming of Jacksonville and Mary Fleming of Lindale, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Greggton United Methodist Church.
