Betty Joyce Richey's Obituary
Betty Joyce Warren Ritchey passed peacefully into heaven on April 5, 2026, with her family around her. She was born on September 5, 1939, to Wade and Leona Warren in Floydada, Texas. She spent 86 years of life her on earth and is now enjoying life with Jesus Christ. She accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age who guarantees eternal life to all who will believe. John 3:16
Betty married Fred L. Ritchey at the age of 16 and moved to France in 1956. During her life, she lived in Germany and made many moves within the US during his military career. Their last move after Fred’s Army retirement was to Longview in 1975, where she became involved in Bible Study Fellowship and was a leader for many years. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, Longview, where she enjoyed teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir. Floral arranging and painting were special talents of hers, but her favorite role was being mom to her children, grandmother and great grandmother.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Fred L. Ritchey, Sr., daughter, Lori Rene, parents, Wade and Leona Warren, brother, Bill Warren, sister, Martha Gallaway.
She is survived by her son, Fred L. Ritchey Jr. and spouse Gail, daughter Cindy Schweitzer and spouse Grant, grandchildren Becky Ellis, Rachael Paschal, Laura Thompson, spouse James, Nathan Davis, Fred L. Ritchey III, spouse Kaycie, 13 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, and numerous friends.
Visitation will be held at Rader Funeral Home in Longview from 6:00-8:00 PM on Friday. The family will have a private gathering on Saturday in her remembrance.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to TECH Team Advantage, 25 FRJ Dr, Longview, TX, 75602 in honor of Betty Ritchey.
