Betty Opal McClain's Obituary
Services for Betty Opal Croft McClain, 75, of Longview will be at 10:00 am, Friday, July 6, 2007 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home with Brother Joe Hancock of Hallsville Church of Christ officiating. Mrs. McClain passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2007. Services are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview.
Mrs. McClain was born April 19, 1932, in Hallsville, Texas, to the late Marvin L. Croft and Vesta Croft Butler. She was valedictorian of her graduating class at Hallsville High School and attended Kilgore College. She worked at First National Bank before marrying Oliver ?Mack? McClain, June 24, 1955. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2005.
She spent her life as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and homemaker. The McClain?s loved hunting and fishing and spending time with their family. Mrs. McClain will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years Oliver ?Mack? McClain of Longview; three children Suzanne and Jack Taylor of Bastrop, Texas, Jim and Kristi McClain of Minden, Louisiana, Deanne and Wayne Gibson of Hallsville, Texas; one brother, Stanley Croft of Lead Hill, Ar., one sister, Janet Wooten of Linden, Texas, 11 grandchildren, Cheri Fox of Austin, Mickey Mehrens of Austin, Misti Scudday of Kilgore, Kimber Roten of Minden, LA, Danielle McTyre, of Longview, Kalen McClain of Minden, LA, Sheila Wright of Greenwood, LA, Roy Taylor of Bastrop, Jason Taylor of Austin, Claudette Taylor of Clearwater, FL, and Eleanor Davis of Albia, IA, and 19 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many other loving family and friends.
The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home of Longview Thursday evening from 6-8 PM.
