Betty McCreight
Betty McCreight, 87, of Longview, formerly of Belton, died Tuesday, July 24, 2012 in Longview. Graveside services will be held Saturday, July 28, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Thompson Cemetery, Copeville, TX with Mitchel L. Whitington of Jefferson, TX officiating.
Mrs. McCreight was born September 18, 1924 in Ralls, TX to Lonnie Darwood and Gladys Inez Teague Nowlin. Her family later settled in Fannin County, where she grew up on a farm located near the tiny community of Tulip, TX. It was there that she received her early education in a one room school. She later attended Bonham High School where she graduated in 1941.
She married Dr. James O. McCreight, Jr., of Yantis, TX on February 9, 1946 in Dallas. That same year, they moved to Belton, where he began his dental practice which continued for the next forty years.
Mrs. McCreight was a member of the First Baptist Church in Belton. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers, Bobby Earl Nowlin and William Hunter Nowlin, and one sister, Joyce Evelyn Sanford.
She is survived by one son, Jeffery McCreight and his wife Andria of Addison; one daughter, Lisa Barry and her husband, Michael of Jefferson; a granddaughter, Audra Wickiser and husband, Jon of Dallas; two great granddaughters, Claire and Elizabeth Wickiser of Dallas; one sister, Sondra Cannon of Friendswood; one sister-in-law, Mary Lou Meredith and her husband, Frank of Dallas; and several nieces and nephews.
Thank you from the family to all of her doctors, nurses, and aids at Longview Regional Medical Center, her caregivers at Heart'sWay Hospice, the staff at Summer Meadows, the staff at Colonial village, and her caregivers from Care Team.
