Betty Marie Gilbert's Obituary
Services for Mrs. Betty M. Gilbert, 86, of Longview will be held at 11:00am Tuesday in the Chapel Mausoleum at Rosewood Park Cemetery in Longview. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00pm at Rader Funeral Home in Longview. Mrs. Gilbert passed away on Thursday, May 10, in Longview.
Betty was born in Muskegon, Michigan on November 7, 1931, daughter of the late Otto Mack and Harriet Rice Mack. Mrs. Gilbert served in the United States Air Force where she met and married her husband of 62 years, the late L.A. Gilbert. She served as a Communications Specialists and received several service and merit awards. Betty and L.A. made their home in Elysian Fields, Tx with their three children. Betty worked and retired from AT&T in Shreveport in 1988.
Betty enjoyed taking care of her family. She enjoyed attending her children’s school activities and also served as chaperone whenever she could. She love to bake, work in the garden and loved animals. She was a member and contributor of the Humane Society and gave a loving home to many dogs and cats during her life time. Betty also loved to fish, and her and L.A. enjoyed many fishing times together. She is Memaw to her family, Betty Marie to friends, but will be remembered most as a sweet, caring, loving lady that took care of everyone and never met a stranger.
She is survived by her three children: Sons, David Louis Gilbert of Henderson, Tx, John Darrel Gilbert and wife Donna of Pleasanton, Tx, and daughter, Diana Lynn Gilbert Kardash of Longview, Tx; brother-in-law, Owen Gilbert and wife Diane of Daingerville, Tx, grandchildren, Chad Gilbert and wife Jennifer of Pleasanton, TX, Teri Crowson and husband Luke, of Plano, TX, Courtney Baker and husband Matt of Kansas City, MO, Shane Kardash and wife Kendall of Boulder, CO, Amanda Ramirez and husband Abram of Henderson, Tx, Sarra Gamez and husband Marcus of Austin, TX, Keith Polluck of Baton Rouge, LA, and Stasha Polluck of Carrollton, TX; several great grandchildren. Mrs. Gilbert was preceded in death by her husband, Louie A. Gilbert, Jr, one sister, and her parents.
