Betty Darlene Crossland's Obituary
Betty Darlene Crossland was born on July 21, 1937, in Tyler, Texas, to Henry Lloyd and Lena Whisenant. She was raised in Tyler where she met and married Johnie Crossland, who was enlisted in the US Navy. Betty became a military wife where she served along side the love of her life for 20 years. Many times, and for great lengths of time, she served at home. While Johnie was away, she was taking care of 4 children, demonstrating her courage, strength, and love for her family.
Upon their retirement from the Navy they moved to Longview, TX where they found their church home at Macedonia Baptist Church. She was an active member and enjoyed serving in the Senior Ministry. She loved her Sunday School class. Betty enjoyed cooking and making Sunday dinner for the family. She loved spending time with her family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She set an example of her faith by her love, strength, wisdom, and her daily walk with Jesus.
Those left to cherish her memory are her 4 children: Debra Taylor of Diana, TX, Johnie Crossland and wife Renee of Karnack, TX, Beverly Burleson and husband David of Longview, TX, and James Crossland and wife Rhonda of Hallsville, TX; 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
