Betty Ann Hamilton's Obituary
Services for Betty Ann Flanagan Hamilton, 86, will be at 10 a.m. Monday, September 14, at Rader Funeral Home in Longview with the Rev. Mervin Scott and the Rev. Richard Heyduck officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, September 13 at Rader. Mrs. Hamilton was born April 23, 1923 in Toulon, Illinois, graduated from Henry High School in Henry, Illinois, and died September 10, 2009 in Pittsburg, Texas. She was a lifelong Methodist and member of Wesley McCabe UMC of Longview. She attended First United Methodist Church of Pittsburg after moving to Southern Wind Manor. Mrs. Hamilton served as a volunteer for many years at Asbury House Day Care in Longview and as an organizer of its annual garage sale. She was a member of United Methodist Women and served as president and officer for many years. Mrs. Hamilton for many years cooked lunch for Letourneau University students on the weekends when the cafeteria was closed, making her famous biscuits and gravy for many students, including the Rev. Franklin Graham. Mrs. Hamilton is survived by her sister, Dottie Comstock, of Pocatello, Idaho; her children, Ron Hamilton, Don Hamilton and wife Deborah; Mary Ellen Zabel and husband John; Sheila Brown and husband Alton; brother-in-law Tony Lovaglia; and ?adopted son? the Rev. Mervin Scott. Also surviving are grandchildren William Hamilton and wife Kim; Kevin Zabel and wife Tabitha; Angela Zabel; Kasey Borders and partner T.C. Landers; Meredith Borders and fiancé Matt Schlabach; Lynsey Ginsberg and husband Sheldon; Louis Brown; Desiree Hamilton and Deric Hamilton. Also surviving are great-grandchildren Erin Hamilton, Kaila Hamilton and Madison Hamilton. Mrs. Hamilton was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, OK Hamilton; her parents, William and Ethel Flanagan; an infant daughter; daughter-in-law Marsha Hamilton; and siblings Robert Flanagan, William Flanagan, Gerald Flanagan, Mary Jean Buchdahl, Helen Klepper, Florence Lovaglia, Faye Algood and Shirley Savage. Pallbearers will be T.C. Landers, Matt Schlabach, Deric Hamilton, William Hamilton and Louis Brown. The family would like to thank the administrator and staff of Southern Wind Manor and Bluebonnet Hospice for caring for our beloved Grandma Betty so lovingly. If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Asbury House in Longview.
