Chip and Chuck,
We moved to Lake Cherokee in the Spring of the early 80's and met Frank and Bette during the our first summer. Not long after we arrived Bette ask me to do boat tours of Cherokee for newcomers that she was meeting in her Welcome service and that became a fun time for all of us. From the day she drew their first lot for a Fishing Camp to what it became they were involved in the growth of Lake Cherokee. She was always smiling, always ready for a new adventure, and always positive. Whatever we had going on from The Reservation Club to First Friends to KFT to the Beautification Committee, she was involved. I have so many wonderful memories of both Bette and Frank -- good times!!
Our thoughts and prayers are lifted for the entire family. She was a wonderful lady who leaves behind beautiful memories for both family and friends.
Grace and peace be with you and your families,
Nell Raper Boren
formerly Lake Cherokee
My Condolences to the Bette`s Family. I`ve know Bette for about 6 years and enjoyed talking to her about the old days around the Lake. She will surely be miss`t.

Aunt Bette was a beloved lady who lived life fully and well. I knew from an early age that she was the fun aunt, that she spelled her name in a cool way, that she was an enterprising businesswoman with a strong point of view, and she literally wrote full short stories as letters, with fun handwriting. Who could ever beat that!?
She also named one of my sons, suggesting her mother’s maiden name, Graham, which I loved, so it stuck!
I imagine her in heaven, establishing the welcome wagon for St Peter at the pearly gates!
She was such a special person and an inspiration to all. Being around her taught you lessons on how to live a happy life. I know she was tired and ready to leave this earthly life, but we were not ready to lose her. She remains in our heart. Love to all her sweet family! Betty Heim
